Privacy policy

Nothing personal. Ensemble has no accounts, no sign-up, no forms and no comments. We don't collect your name, your email address or any device identifier, and we never see what you type into the guess box.

Your game history (plays today, games played, solve rate, streaks and the game in progress) is stored in your browser's local storage. It stays on your device, never leaves it, and you can wipe it with the Reset stats button or by clearing site data.

Like virtually every website, our hosting provider processes standard technical request data, including IP addresses, transiently to deliver pages and protect against abuse. We don't use this to identify or track you.

None. Ensemble sets no cookies of any kind: no advertising cookies, no analytics cookies, no session cookies.

We use Vercel Web Analytics to count visits and to see which parts of the game get used. It is cookieless, sets no persistent identifier, does not fingerprint your device and does not follow you to other sites. What we see is aggregate: how many people visited, which pages, and a handful of game events.

The events are: a puzzle being dealt (with the decade and genre chosen), a game finishing (won or lost, how many names were showing, the film's decade, genre and tier), the daily limit being reached, and the stats share button being used. No event contains a guess, a name, or anything that identifies you.

We don't sell, rent or trade any information. Two providers act on our behalf:

• Vercel hosts the site, serves its pages and provides the analytics described above.
• The Movie Database (TMDB) supplies film and cast data. Actor headshots are served from our own site, but the poster shown after you finish a game loads from TMDB's image servers, so TMDB receives a standard image request from your browser at that moment. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.

Each processes data only to provide its service, under its own privacy terms.

Ensemble links to IMDb, TMDB and Tapiki. Once you click one of those links, you're in their house, not ours. We have no control over their privacy practices and make no promises about them.

This game is not directed at anyone under 16, and we don't knowingly collect information from children.

If this policy ever changes, we'll update it here and update the date at the top. The goal stays the same: collect as little as possible, and be honest about the rest.
